The Jimmy Melvin Memorial Longbow Shoot      Held in Early July

This non-record-status longbow tournament has been held every July since 1987 in Memory of Jimmy Melvin.

Jimmy was a committed archer and a great fan of the traditional side of the sport, preferring the 'piece of stick' to the more popular and elaborate recurve bows. The enormous rise in popularity of the longbow within Cleadon Archers is largely down to his legacy.
