Cleadon Archers Annual Open Tournament was renamed in honour of the club's most respected member.

Stan was a driving force for many years and coached at both club, regional and national level. His achievements were recognised at many levels as he was awarded Honourary Life membership of both GNAS and FITA, before being awarded the OBE by The Queen for services to sport.

His widow Ann was Lady Paramount for the first tournament whilst his two sons, Malcolm and Brian, both competed.
